History

The Christmas Story was brought to the Church of the Holy Trinity in 1938 from St. Martin's-in-the-Fields, London, England by Patricia Frank, wife of John Frank, then rector of Holy Trinity.

Throughout the past 6 decades, The Story has played faithfully each season in the historic little church behind The Eaton Centre in Toronto. During WW2, the original production in London had to stop. In Toronto, even when the church was ravaged by a terrible fire in 1975, the production went on inside The Eaton Centre!

Each year during the introduction to the performance, we ask the audience to identify how long they have been attending. Invariably we are treated to greetings from people who have seen The Story regularly for 30, 40, 50 and even 60 years.
