The Church of the Holy Trinity is a community of people who seek to express Christian faith through lives of integrity, justice and compassion. We foster lay leadership, include the doubter and the marginalized, and challenge oppression wherever it may be found.

Invitation: Meeting to Discuss the Diocesan Guidelines on Same Sex Blessings

rainbow-flag

June 8, 2011 at 7:00pm
Church of the Holy Trinity
Refreshments provided

The Church of the Holy Trinity invites you to a meeting to discuss both the recently released guidelines on same sex blessings and the process of identifying participating churches. We would like to have a discussion among those churches who have been invited to participate and churches who are interested in conducting same sex blessings but have not been explicitly invited.

We would like to know how people in various church communities view the guidelines:

* What theological perspective do they reflect?
* Do they represent a step forward?
* Will the process enhance the inclusion of gay and lesbian people in the Anglican Church of Canada in this diocese?

Easter At Holy Trinity

The flowered cross

We continued our longstanding tradition of flowing the cross on Easter morning and raising it behind the altar. The children also made a tomb and grew Easter gardens leading up to easter. Here are photos of the cross and tomb. A video of the flowering is below the photos.

Tonight’s Oasis service was great

This is the first one I’ve been able to get to. I’m very glad I went. The focus was on International Women’s day and the Echo choir and a movement/dance group were both guests. Very quick and refreshing service. The pot-luck supper afterwards was great and most folks seemed to stay. Several of us brought instruments and had a bit of a sing-song/jam after the meal. An excellent time. Thank you to everyone who made [...]

Taking Ash Wednesday to the Neighbourhood

Cross of ashes

Following the 12:15 Ash Wednesday service at Holy Trinity, Trinity Square, Nola Crewe (our Assistant Curate), Wendy Telfer (a Trinity College student doing her post-internship here), and I headed out onto Trinity Square into the wet falling snow in our vestments armed only with our little containers of freshly incinerated palm fronds from the 2010 Palm Sunday liturgy, to offer the imposition of ashes to anyone who desired them.

The idea to do so had been suggested after the Ash Wednesday service last year, so we decided to try it this year and see what would happen.  Our route was a loop from Trinity Square to Dundas Street, east to Yonge, south [...]
