Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee includes over twenty members of the Church of the Holy Trinity congregation. It grows out of Holy Trinity’s social justice ministry and has been active for almost 15 years.

The committee meets monthly to discuss and to act upon a wide variety of issues. In 2002 some of the discussion topics were: Health Care; privatization of electricity; “War on Terrorism”; War on Iraq; and Homelessness.

The committee hosts a monthly Homeless Memorial Vigil on the second Tuesday of the month at 12 noon on the south steps. This memorial honours the men, women and children who have lived on the streets of Toronto and died as a direct result of homelessness. There is a Homeless Memorial web page maintained by Bonnie Briggs which has an online memorial list and some poetry used at past memorial services.
